SCREENSHARING / PRIVACY

ScreenSharing privacy and data handling.

A plain-language explanation of what ScreenSharing processes.

Start sharing

Screen and audio

ScreenSharing uses encrypted WebRTC connections between the presenter and each viewer. This version does not record screen or audio or route media through TURN or SFU servers. Participants can see what you share and may record it using their own tools.

Room information

Our room service processes temporary identifiers, access credentials, display names and connection information. Rooms are kept in server memory and removed when ended or expired. Restarting the service invalidates existing rooms.

Annotations

Drawing marks travel over encrypted WebRTC data channels through the presenter’s browser to the viewers. They are held temporarily in participant browsers, not stored by our room service. Stopping the screen or starting a new sharing generation clears the board. Participants can capture the shared view, including annotations.

Chat

Chat passes through the room service and is not end-to-end encrypted independently of that service. The service does not store chat history. Each browser keeps a limited message list during its current room session.

Browser storage

Session storage keeps room credentials and your display name in the current tab for reconnection. Invitation credentials are carried in the link fragment and removed from the address bar when read. Closing a tab normally clears its session storage.

Network and hosting

Direct P2P connections can reveal network addresses to participants. Hosting and STUN services process network requests and may retain operational logs under their own policies. This application does not add advertising or analytics trackers.

Sharing thoughtfully

Send invitations to people you trust. Share a specific window or tab when possible. Ending a room invalidates its invitation.
